Don't Nod's upcoming game, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, has been given a new release date, announced during Gamescom 2024's Opening Night Live.
The production, previously scheduled for "late 2024", had been canceled, according to the developer, so as not to compete with the new Life is Strange, "Double Exposure", which arrives in October – the series was created by Don't Nod (at the time "Dontnod") in 2015, and is now with Deck Nine.
B&R, an episodic adventure, should reach the public in two parts. The first, called "Tape 1", on 02/18, and the second, "Tape 2", on 03/18/2025.
Its plot is at least partly set in 1995, around four girls – Swann, Nora, Autumn and Kat – who have a punk rock group and go through an "inexplicable event that will change their lives forever".
The mystery, little explored in the trailers, suggests some promise or pact between them, something like "I know what you did last summer". The resolution happens 27 years later, when they receive a strange package. The gameplay will be divided between the two timelines.
Undeniable similarity
Bloom & Rage seems to be something like a "spiritual successor" to Life is Strange. When watching the trailers, there are notable similarities and even references to elements of the studio's classic game. In one of them, the protagonist films a butterfly – and those of you who are familiar with the LiS series know what that means.
Just like in that one, the music should play a prominent role in creating the atmosphere. And if Max's iconic element was the camera, Swann, the protagonist of Bloom & Rage, seems to have the same kind of relationship with her camcorder.
Undeniable and inevitable. The creators are the same as those of the original Life is Strange: Luc Baghadoust (executive producer) and Michel Koch (creative director). The French are in charge of the studio, which moved from their home country to Canada.
Since Life is Strange left Don't Nod's hands and went to Deck Nine, the quality of the series has not been the same – the last episode with them was Life is Strange 2, great, by the way, while True Colors had a mixed reception from fans and the media. With Bloom & Rage, Don't Nod returns to having its own production in the genre.
Lost Records deve chegar ao PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S e PC via Steam.
