Grand Theft Auto VI is an upcoming open-world action game developed and published by Rockstar Games. Speculated for years since the release of GTA V in 2013, the sequel was confirmed by Rockstar in February 2022; in September, dozens of videos from various stages of development were leaked – in what was considered one of the biggest leaks in the history of the gaming industry.
The first trailer was released by Rockstar in December 2023. GTA VI is scheduled for release in the last quarter of 2025, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
Plot
Grand Theft Auto VI will be set in the state of Leonida, a fictional version of Florida, with the return to the franchise of the city of Vice City, a fictional version of Miami – it was also the main setting for GTA: Vice City (2002) and GTA: Vice City Stories (2006). According to Rockstar, the city will be "the largest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto franchise", with numerous references to local geography and culture.
The plot will feature a criminal couple: the Latina (nationality not revealed) Lucia and a partner, supposedly Jason – the name has not been confirmed by Rockstar, but appears in the 2022 leaks. Lucia begins the story imprisoned and at some point, she is freed, reuniting with her partner for a mission together.
